Dear Client:

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the new owner of Maple Veterinary Hospital.  My name is Dr. Michael DerKevorkian.  I realize that you have chosen Maple Veterinary Hospital for your pet’s medical needs because of the commitment our doctors and staff have had to providing state-of-the-art veterinary care in a friendly, compassionate atmosphere where the well-being of your pet is our ultimate goal.  These qualities will continue under my ownership.

The entire hospital staff and I wish Dr. Blackwell and Cathy a happy retirement and thank them for all of their kindness and leadership over the years.  Although they will not be a part of the daily operations of Maple Veterinary Hospital, they will always be a part of our MVH family.

As the new owner of Maple Veterinary Hospital, I look forward to seeing all of my current clients and patients as well as to building new relationships with old-time Maple Veterinary Hospital clients and patients.  I am a graduate of Michigan State University and I have experience in orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, and internal medicine.  I am pleased that my experience will provide clients with new medical options for their pets.

My wife, Amanda, my 3-month old daughter, Millei, and I share our home in Royal Oak with our five pets:  a 19 year old cat named Kramer, 6 year old brother cats named Cosmo and Yoda, a 5 year old German Shepherd named Dozer, and a 1 year old mixed breed canine named Sasha.  With that much activity in my house, I can certainly relate to clients and their concerns for their pet’s healthcare.  I am, also, an active member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  I became a member of this Society because my mother had multiple sclerosis before she lost her battle against it in December 2008.

Maple Veterinary Hospital will continue to strive to be the best veterinary hospital in Metro Detroit.  Our staff is dedicated to providing each client and each patient with personalized attention in a clean, modern facility with a warm and friendly atmosphere.  Our Mission is to provide our clients and their pets with quality preventive medicine, on-going client education, and expert medical treatment that will enable each pet to live a quality life as a loving family member and companion.  The friendly faces that you have known at Maple Veterinary Hospital will continue to be here to greet you.  Dr. Smith, Dr. DiBenedetto, and I, along with our talented staff of licensed veterinary technicians, will work together as a professional team to provide you and your pet with the outstanding veterinary healthcare and compassionate client services you expect.
