How Heartworm Preventative Works:

If your pet is bitten by an infected mosquito, heartworm larvae will be deposited into your pet.
What heartworm preventative does is prevent heartworm larvae from maturing into adult heartworms.

The monthly preventative is in your pet's system for only 2 days each month.
The preventative you give this month will work to kill any heartworm larvae deposited over the last month.
